This year has gone by so fast. There were definitely times when I wished it would go faster (i.e. final exams) and times it would slow or stop (i.e. standing on the Ponte Rialto in Venice). This year has been challenging and taxing, but beautiful and eye opening. Here's to another year of adventure and love!

Here are just a few shots from around Napa CA. This time of year in the vinyards is magnificent; orange, red, green and gold everywhere you look! Enjoy!
-MLK After spending 4+ hours in the Monterey Bay Aquarium, I'm very pleased with some of the shots I got of my ever-moving marine subjects. The choice to convert a few into black and white was an attempt to change it up a bit, and hide the fact that they were taken in an aquarium with classic cobalt blue backgrounds in the tanks.
I love photographing animals of all kinds. They never fail to be interesting in some way! Enjoy! -MLK This collection is from Golden Gate Park's Rose Garden. I managed to photograph the last batch of roses; most of them were dead or falling apart. Hopefully I can go back in the spring and catch them while they're young and plentiful!
Today is my sister Leslie's birthday. She passed away last year in October, and before her memorial I bought some huge pink roses for her. I brought some to the service, one for our mom, one for our sister Allison, and one for Leslie. Yesterday, I bought more flowers to remind myself of Leslie's vibrance on this, her day. So this post is for her. There are so many beautiful colors in this world, and if you don't slow down and look for them, they could be gone before you know it. Take time to stop and smell the roses! Literally! -MLK "Dead people receive more flowers than the living ones because regret is stronger than gratitude." -Anne Frank During my few weeks offline, I've taken over 1000 photos. I know. It's taken me a couple days to go through all of them and pick my favorites, and because I can be indecisive, it's been quite a process, but fun nonetheless.
This collection is from the Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. I highly recommend spending some time in this place; it's so peaceful and gorgeous. I took hundreds of photos in the garden, and I was only there for an hour! Being autumn, I was really lucky to catch the vibrant foliage before the rains come to take the leaves away. I played with the contrast and saturation in some photos only a little bit, to make the bright colors seem a bit brighter. Not much editing (because of the volume of photos taken), but these are some shots I personally find really pleasing to the eye. It also costs $8 to get into the garden, so I wanted to get the best shots for my money! Enjoy (And don't forget to click on the thumbnail to enlarge the photo)! -MLK |
